Randy Edsall fires back at James Frankin: Talk is cheap

It took awhile, but Randy Edsall finally responded to recent comments made by James Franklin, who declared the state of Maryland as an "in-state" recruiting area for Penn State under his reign as head coach.

Edsall's response wasn't your prototypical jab at a rival that we're accustomed to seeing. But he certainly made his feelings known that the Terrapins aren't going to back down to Franklin and the Nittany Lions.

"We're not gonna boast and brag. We're more about substance at Maryland," Edsall told theYork Dispatch before a charity golf tournament. "We're gonna find guys that fit the profile we're looking for. We're gonna worry about ourselves and not worry about anything else. Talk is cheap."

Ah, the old "talk is cheap" line. Well played.

This upcoming season will mark the first for Maryland as new members of the Big Ten. And the Terps will definitely have their work cut out for them going up against schools such as Penn State both on and off the field. In this case, we're referring to the fertile recruiting grounds of Maryland.

In case you're curious, Franklin has history on his side, as Penn State is a remarkable 35-1-1 all-time against Maryland. This might be a good stat to bring up on the recruiting trail.
