Adam Sandler sent Michelle Wie flowers for U.S. Open victory

Michelle Wie hit the jackpot in more ways than one following her victory at the U.S. Women's Open.

In addition to receiving a monstrous trophy, Wie also received a bouqet of flowers from the one and only golf legend Happy Gilmore, otherwise known as actor Adam Sandler.

“I feel like that’s the biggest prize in golf, getting flowers from Happy Gilmore,” Wie said in her pretournament news conference Thursday at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship in Rogers, Ark.

So what's the connection between Wie and Sandler? Well, the two played golf together in Hawaii when Wie was a teenager. And they apparently became good enough friends to warrant sending congratulatory flowers to one another.

Wie said she also received a congratulatory letter from Arnold Palmer and text messages from Condoleezza Rice and Nike's Phil Knight.

Not bad for a day at the office!
