Shelly Sterling, wife of embattled Clippers owner Donald Sterling, believes her husband has dementia. She revealed this thought in an interview Tuesday morning on The Today Show.
“I felt bad for him,” she said in reference to the inflammatory interview her husband appeared in on CNN on Monday. “Because he’s not the man I know. Or I knew. There’s something wrong.”
When asked by Savannah Guthrie what was wrong with him Mrs. Sterling added, “I really think personally he has dementia.”
Sterling did himself no favors on Monday by appearing in an interview with CNN's Anderson Cooper. Among other things, Sterling ripped Magic Johnson for being a bad role model for kids partly because he alleged Johnson has AIDS. For the record, Johnson does not have AIDS, but is HIV positive.
“I don’t think it happened overnight it’s been happening but nobody really knew the reason. He gets crazy and yells and screams and hollers one moment,” Shelly Sterling said. “And then the next morning he’ll talk about something else. It’s like nothing makes sense.”
At 81-years-old, it wouldn't be a stretch at all to believe Donald Sterling has at least some case of dementia. However, we won't know for sure unless he gets properly diagnosed by the appropriate physician. Being diagnosed with dementia won't improve his perception among the public eye, but it definitely couldn't hurt him either.
