Mark Cuban: I want Spurs to win title so Tim Duncan retires

Mark Cuban knows all too well how Tim Duncan has terrorized the Western Conference since Cuban bought the Dallas Mavericks in 2000. After all, Duncan has helped guide the Spurs to four NBA titles en route to earning 14 trips to the All-Star Game in his storied career.

Now, Cuban is pulling for Duncan and San Antonio to win yet another championship, which may sound odd to Mavs fans considering the Spurs were responsible for eliminating Cuban's team in the first round. But Cuban's reasoning seems to justify it.

“I want San Antonio to win,” Cuban said on a Dallas radio station last Friday. “I want Tim Duncan to hit a game-winning shot to win Game 7 (in the Western Conference Finals), then go to the Finals, do the exact same thing, hit a game-winning shot in Game 7, run down the tunnel, never to be seen from again.

“I want him to retire on the spot. I hope he gets that last ring and it’s all the incentive he needs to retire.”

The Spurs appear to be on the right track to make Cuban's plan a reality. But it remains to be seen if Duncan is ready to hang 'em up regardless of how the season turns out.
