Nick Saban gets rejected by five-star quarterback through an email

You have got to be one courageous soul to turn down a scholarship offer to play football for Nick Saban. But to reject Saban's offer through an email is about as bold as it gets.

Well, five-star quarterback Ricky Town did just that recently. Town, ranked as the No. 2 pro-style quarterback for the Class of 2015 by 247Sports.com, originally committed to Alabama before withdrawing his pledge when offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier left the program in January. Town looked around and eventually committed to USC. And that's when he had to deliver the bad news to Saban.

“I sent Coach Saban an email and said ‘Thank you for everything, but I have to do what’s best for me,’” Ricky said. “I never heard back from Coach Saban. But one of the girls that works in his office, she wrote back and said ‘Best of luck.’”

Pretty gutsy move, kid. Pretty gutsy move.

  1. Gutsy move! How about completely rude and careless on his part! He desires to play for the best, right? Well, he just gave it away.
