Major corporate sponsors pulling support of Clippers amid controversy

The fallout from Donald Sterling's racist comments caught on tape is beginning to take a toll on more than his personal reputation.

According to BuzzFeed, several corporate sponsors are pulling their support of the Los Angeles Clippers effectively immediately. These sponsors include CarMax, Southern California-based performance water brand, AQUAhydrate, Kia, and Virgin America. Meanwhile, State Farm is reportedly mulling a decision to pull its sponsorship of the team as well.

Here's a written statement issued by CarMax about their decision.

CarMax finds the statements attributed to the Clippers’ owner completely unacceptable. These views directly conflict with CarMax’s culture of respect for all individuals. While we have been a proud Clippers sponsor for 9 years and support the team, fans and community, these statements necessitate that CarMax end its sponsorship.

The NBA has yet to hand down any discipline over the matter as it remains under investigation. But one can rest assured that Sterling is not going to make it out of this situation in good shape.
