Video: Cavaliers fan runs onto court during game, gets taken down and handcuffed immediately
With just over six minutes remaining in Friday's game against Utah, a Cleveland Cavaliers fan ran onto the court to tell Kyrie Irving that he loved him. And then was immediately taken to the ground and handcuffed by security.
Irving called the ordeal an honor to the Cleveland Plain Dealer afterward:
“He told me he loved me, I told him, ‘I love you, too, bro,’” Irving said. “The police didn’t think it was a joke. … It goes back to the emotional and deep-rooted support the fans have for the team. It was a great honor, but to do it during the game … maybe he could have waited until after the game?”
This marks the third time in two years that a fan has sprinted onto the court during a Cavs game. The most recent occurrence came in December.
