Marquise Bryant, who has pledged a verbal commitment to play football for the South Florida Bulls, was arrested Sunday after allegedly pulling a gun on a police officer.

The incident unraveled when the officer confronted Bryant for loitering around the Fort Myers area around 2:30 a.m. This is when the 18-year-old slowly reached for his right front pocket despite orders by the officer to put his hands in the air. Bryant disobeyed and continued to reach for his pocket until a physical altercation broke out between the two shortly thereafter. At one point, Bryant allegedly whipped out the gun against the cop.

In a twist of fate, the officer then pressed a button to alert his police dog, Bala, who came sprinting from the cop car to bite Bryant on the right thigh. The officer was then able to take control of the situation and arrest the star high school running back.

Bryant faces several charges including assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, and carrying a concealed weapon.

The Dunbar High School product is rated as a three-star prospect by many recruiting services. He committed to South Florida in October.
