Photo: Mickey Mantle's handwritten note from death bed speech up for auction

In 1995, Mickey Mantle gave an emotional farewell speech from his hospital bed at the Baylor University Medical Center.

In the speech, Mantle famously pleaded with fans, "Please don't do drugs and alcohol. God only gave us one body."

Unfortunately, the ex-Yankees legend passed away four weeks after delivering the speech at the age of 63, suffering from liver cancer, cirrhosis, and hepatitis.

Now, the handwritten notes Mantle used for the speech are about to hit the auction block, according to TMZ Sports. Grey Flannel Auctions will soon be opening up the bidding on the notes that Mantle scribbled on the back of a PGA Tour card.

The historical item will reportedly hit the auction block at the end of April.
