Francisco Rodriguez listed as day-to-day after stepping barefoot on cactus

Add reliever Francisco Rodriguez to the list of bizarre spring training injuries.

According to the Milwaukee-Wisconsin Journal Sentinel, the Milwaukee Brewers pitcher won't be able to make his scheduled spring debut on Thursday after reportedly stepping barefoot on a cactus on Tuesday. Ah, the joys of spring training in Arizona.

"They took out a lot of the thorns but there's still some in there," said manager Ron Roenicke. "I don't think it's that big of a setback but I imagine he's pretty sore today. You know how little some of the thorns are and they break off in there. So, I don't know. But that's what's going on."

There's really no details as to why Rodriguez felt the need to go one-on-one with a cactus. But it sure beats getting stung by a scorpion.

The injury sustained by Rodriguez further delays his progress compared to other pitchers. The veteran right-hander showed up to camp late after obtaining a work visa in Venezuela.
