Donte Stallworth believes Jim Irsay's recent DUI arrest could be a true blessing in disguise.
Stallworth knows a thing or two about drunk driving incidents too. Five years ago, Stallworth was responsible for the death of 59-year-old Mario Reyes in a drunk driving accident in Florida. And the NFL receiver says that experience still lives with him today.
The 33-year-old had the following advice to give to the maligned Colts owner:
"Hopefully, [Jim] can look at the unfortunate decision I made, and learn from it," Stallworth said. "He's lucky it wasn't more serious."
I've talked with people who lost family members to drunk driving. They come up to me randomly. It's a constant reminder of the decision I made."
Irsay has checked himself into treatment since his arrest. It's a move applauded by Stallowrth.
"It’s good he's going to get some help. The first step is admitting you need it."
It appears Irsay has at least admitted he has a problem.
