Brad Ausmus jokes about way to cope with rash of Tigers injuries

Brad Ausmus can't catch a break.

The injuries have been piling up for the Detroit Tigers this spring. Namely, shortstop Jose Iglesias and reliever Bruce Rondon, who just this week were ruled out for the season. This is not to mention the loss of outfielder Andy Dirks for at least three months due to back surgery.

Naturally, the rash of grim news has been tough for first-year manager to stomach, so apparently he's taking up the habit of smoking to help cope with the stress.

“I just went out and bought my first pack of Marlboros,” Ausmus told John Lowe of the Detroit Free Press.

The comment was likely tongue-in-cheek. But any more injuries to his team may have him seriously considering a major stress reliever.
