Report: Sochi poisoning stray dogs before Olympics

The Olympics is something the world looks forward to with great anticipation. But this report out of Sochi is sure to upset many dog lovers and people alike.

According to Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports, the city has been poisoning stray dogs ahead of the Winter Games in an attempt to preemptively keep them from disrupting tourists and competition.

According to Tony Manfred of Business Insider, the Russian government hired a company to undergo the disturbing deed. The owner of the company adamantly defended the practice, calling the dogs "biological trash" and carriers of several diseases.

According to reports, Sochi has a sizable stray dog population, but I'm not sure that justifies the measures being taken to ensure a "better" Olympics experience.
