If you've done a Google search over the last 24 hours, which chances are that you have, you may have noticed the rainbow-themed "Google Doodle" located on the page. The Google Doodle dates back to 1998 and occasionally features illustrations involving current events and happenings around the world.
In an effort to protest Russia's anti-gay policies, which includes an anti-propaganda law, the graphic shows generic Olympic athletes depicted against a colorful background. Furthermore, when Google users hover over the illustration on the home page, it boasts a quote that reads:
“The practice of sport is a human right. Every individual must have the possibility of practicing sport, without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play."
Pretty bold statement by Google.
