Report: Tim McCarver not retiring from broadcasting baseball games after all

The 2013 season was supposed to be the last in the illustrious broadcasting career of Tim McCarver. But not so fast. The 72-year-old already wants back in the game. Well, at least back behind the mic.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, McCarver said Thursday night that he is nearing an agreement to broadcast roughly 30 Cardinals games this season for Fox Sports Midwest. In case you weren't aware, McCarver formally retired from his national position with Fox Sports at the conclusion of the World Series.

A former catcher, who helped the St. Louis Cardinals win two World Series rings in the 1960s, McCarver told the newspaper that coming home to St. Louis is "fabulous, a complete merry-go-round, it's wonderful."

Yes, that sounds exactly like something McCarver might say.
