Adam Vinatieri's resume as an NFL kicker ranks among some of the most impressive of all-time. So, if anyone deserves to question the kicking rules surrounding football it's him.
With that being said, the 41-year-old was recently asked about his thoughts regarding Roger Goodell's proposal to abolish the extra point. Vinatieri quickly shot down the idea, but was quick to offer another idea.
"I don't think any of us are above the ability to change football from what it is," he said. "I mean, it's been the way it has been for 100 years. I don't know if we should start changing that stuff up.
"If anything, make a 50-yard field goal worth four points instead of three," he said. "Now all of a sudden we become more valuable rather than less valuable."
Now, there's an interesting idea. Will the league actually consider it? Probably not. But credit the 18-year veteran for trying to make his position more secure and valuable.
