Charles Barkley: I think LeBron James should return to Cavaliers

Count Charles Barkley among the contingent that believes LeBron James should have never left the Cleveland Cavaliers in favor of South Beach and the Miami Heat.

Barkley recently sat down for an interview with Rachel Nichols on CNN and was asked whether he thought James was better off for joining the Heat in 2010. As always, Barkely was more than willing to voice his opinion.

"I thought LeBron should have stayed in Cleveland," Barkley said. "Just 'cause he got them rings now, he ain't no better. Think about the notion that, just because I didn't win a sporting event, my life is not successful. That's gotta be the stupidest thing I ever heard."

Of course, these comments are coming from a guy who never won an NBA championship himself. So it's only natural for Barkley to feel bitter toward those players who have.

Barkley was also asked if he would like to see James return to the franchise who he originally rose to stardom with.

"I think it'd be great for him to go back to Cleveland," Barkley said. "Number one, I don't think they are great fans in Miami. I thought they were great fans in Cleveland."

Needless to say, Barkley may not want to venture into Miami anytime soon.

  1. Charles Barkley is known for being opinionated and controversial. This time he is right. Mr. Ego should never have left Cleveland in the first place. Then we may never have heard about him whining about having fouls called on him. We may never have heard about him thinking that he could play soccer, American football or even rap.

  2. Barkley just finding opportunity to be in front of the camera(get money Charles). I don't know if LeBron is happier or not, he look happy. He got what he wants. And I haven't heard him mention anything about Cleveland. The media doing all the talking. In his life I believe he first should do what's best for GOD,family, himself, team, fans. I bet you ask his couch what he think he'll probably say what best for LeBron.

  4. No one really cares what Charles Barkley thinks. He is a has-been who tries to keep himself relevant by saying things about the young men playing now. He has nothing interesting to say or that matters to anyone. He's simply a has-been shock jock who doesn't know when his time is up. He needs to just be a good commentator if that's possible for him and leave the game to the young men.

    1. That's ignorant. Charles Barkley is one of the greatest players to play the game and he's an in-demand commentator/entertainer. As long as he lives, he is never going to be a "has been." The media and everyone wants a piece of him so he doesn't have to "keep himself relevant." He IS relevant. If people watch Inside the NBA or any show that he's a part of, it's simply because he is a part of it. If the "young men" you speak of want to have a career after basketball, they could learn a lot from Charles Barkley.

  5. charles barkley is a alabama hillbilly, who carries a lot of jealousy, and envy which is from the culture of alabamians. If it had not been for sports, he would still be stuck there physically, but his mindset is the same. U can take the hillbilliy out of bama, but u can't take the bama out of a hillbilly.

  8. This is coming from a guy that never won a ring. From someone who came back for a lot less MONEY, trying to win a ring. LOSER. From a guy who makes comments about tthe "white man" but is married to a white woman. The only way he gets publicity is by making STUPID comments. Barkley....can you spell LOSER?

  9. LeBron didn't go to Miami for less money, Florida doesn't have state income tax, so the money he went to Miami for was basically the same as Ohio that does impose a state tax on earnings. This was well documented on ESPN as to dispell that rumor.

    1. He did take less. He left about $20 mill on the table. No state tax doesn't mean he made $20 mill back. So he may have got taxed 8-10 on that 20 but its still more in the end.
