Video: Blind teenager makes high school football team
Jake Olson of Orange Lutheran High School (Calif.) lost his left eye to cancer when he was just 10 months old. At age 12, after a long battle to keep the rest of his vision intact, he lost his right eye as well.
However, right before Olson lost his sight completely, he was granted a wish by then USC head coach Pete Carroll to watch practice and a game, one final time. Footage of that experience can be seen above.
Now, the 16-year-old Olson is living a new dream, playing high school football, which didn't seem possible just a short time ago. He is serving as his team's long snapper and doing so very well.
ESPN College GameDay profiled Olson's inspiring story while visiting the USC campus this past weekend, where Olson was in attendance to watch his beloved Trojans take down No. 4 Stanford.
