Major League Baseball partnering with MTV for new series

MTV

Major League Baseball and MTV are teaming up to bring viewers a new series that will attempt to blend pop culture and baseball together.

Furthermore, Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz and Pittsburgh Pirates star Andrew McCutchen will serve as producers. Wait, what?

From ABC News:

MTV Networks and Major League Baseball said Monday they are collaborating on a weekly 30-episode series that melds pop culture and baseball. Ortiz and Pittsburgh Pirates All-Star outfielder Andrew McCutchen are both executive producers of the series, set to begin next spring around the start of the new season.

The show will be filmed in the MLB Fan Cave in New York and will air on MTV2. The premise of the show will focus on such things as music, movies, and lifestyles. Of course, baseball will also have a unique role in the series, too.

MLB is hoping the show helps promote the game to MTV's younger demographic.
