A great tragedy occurred on Thursday as the 2-year-old son of Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson died after succumbing to injuries sustained by being severely beaten by the boyfriend of the mother of the child.
Now, TMZ is reporting that Peterson met his son for the first time Thursday afternoon, while the boy was on life support.
In fairness to Peterson, he only recently learned that he was the father of the child, after the mother had a paternity test done roughly 2-3 months ago to conclude who the father was.
Although a paternity test never concluded that Peterson was the father, he was quick to offer support when the woman approached him about the matter. A few weeks ago, the Pro Bowler allegedly planned a trip to South Dakota to meet the child for the first time, but that obviously never came to fruition, however when he heard the news about the attack on the young boy, he dropped everything and went as fast as he could to Sioux Falls.
According to sources, Peterson has been very involved since the tragedy, pushing to have the child's organs donated to others in need of a transplant.
The man police believe is responsible for this brutal murder is 27-year-old Joseph Patterson. He was initially arrested for assault and battery of an infant. Now, those charges will most definitely be elevated to murder.
