Mike Ditka says not running against Barack Obama is his ‘biggest mistake’

In 2004, Mike Ditka seriously considered running against Barack Obama in his home state of Illinois for a seat in the United States Senate.

After careful consideration, Ditka ultimately decided not to run, thus paving the way for Obama to make his way into Congress, and eventually the White House.

Now, Ditka seems to reflect back on his decision with great remorse. During a recent visit to North Dakota's Oil Patch to give a speech, Ditka told a crowd of about 100 people that not running for the seat is his greatest regret in life.

"Biggest mistake I’ve ever made. Not that I would have won, but I probably would have and he wouldn’t be in the White House.”

In case you couldn't put the pieces together, Ditka is a Republican, and apparently not a fan of President Obama.
