For the second time in four months, construction at the site of the San Francisco 49ers new stadium had to be halted after a worker was killed.

On Monday, a 61-year-old delivery truck driver sustained fatal injuries after being crushed by a bundle of rebar he was unloading at Levi's Stadium.

The victim, whose name hasn't been released, was an employee of Gerdau Steel, a subcontractor on the stadium project. The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. ET on Monday. Construction on the stadium was halted for the day.

"Our sincerest thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends and co-workers affected by this tragedy," the 49ers said through a written statement.

The man becomes the second fatality at the Levi's Stadium site. In June, 63-year-old Donald White was working in an elevator shaft when he was killed by an elevator counterweight.
