Video: VCU basketball team does Navy SEAL training, again

For the third time in as many years, Virginia Commonwealth head basketball coach Shaka Smart enlisted the help of Navy SEALS training to whip his team into shape.

The Rams have gained a reputation of being one of the most active and intense defensive squads in all of college basketball. And it's easy to see why when you check out some of the things they do in this video montage.

The team endured pre-dawn and early morning workouts of swimming through ice baths, doing scissor lifts, crabwalking with sandbags, pushups until their arms failed, lifting each other on one and other's shoulders, sit-up competitions and a bunch of other activities I can't possibly identify. They even got their Oregon Trail on and forded a river! At the 5:45 mark you can see a muddy VCU coach Shaka Smart.

You got to love the fact that Smart was willing to take part in the training, too.
