The Louisville Cardinals smashed Florida International, 72-0, at Papa Johns Cardinal Stadium on Saturday, but that was only a small part of the best day in the lives of fans Vonnie Evans and Jeff Miller.
This is because the couple broke tradition and decided to tie the knot in the stadium parking lot before the game during a tailgate party. Yes, this really happened.
"Jeff told me about the theme of the wedding, I thought it was a great idea and I couldn't wait to do it," said Cameron Paul, the best man.
The unorthodox wedding included a Louisville-themed wedding cake, a gift area, family, friends, and the marriage license to make it official, of course.
"I'm happy for her. If she's happy, I'm always happy," said Brian Evans, the bride's son, who walked her down the aisle.
The newly wedded couple made their grand exit by riding into the proverbial sunset on a motorized scooter with about a dozen aluminum beer cans dragging the ground behind them.
So, how long does a wedding such as this one take to plan? Just two weeks, apparently.
The couple said they plan to celebrate in the same tailgating spot for future anniversaries.
