Scott Kazmir gets stuck on elevator for nearly 90 mintues

Cleveland Indians pitcher Scott Kazmir had his worst hotel nightmare come true Thursday night while staying at the Minnesota W Hotel.

Life was going well for Kazmir until he stepped onto an elevator and proceeded to head up to his room for a little rest and relaxation. It was all downhill from there.

From Fox Sports Ohio:

Kazmir was on the elevator at the W Hotel going to his room when he heard a loud bang as it arrived at the 28th floor. The elevator then went down to 27, when he heard another loud bang. It then stopped.

“I heard a bang, and I was like, ‘Get me out of here,’” Kazmir said. “Then it banged again and it shook like it must have hit something. I guess it wrecked the hydraulics and knocked the door off the tracks.”

He phoned the hotel and Indians traveling secretary Mike Seghi, but the hotel could not get the doors open. The situation got even scarier when the elevator company confessed that they didn't know how to open the doors, either.

So, there Kazmir stood, scared to death, for nearly 90 minutes until the fire department eventually came and ripped the doors open.

Kazmir emerged from the elevator without a scratch. But he said he was clearly unnerved.

“It was brutal,” Kazmir said.

Brutal, indeed.

The hotel offered Kazmir a free breakfast as a form of apology, which he accepted, but became annoyed with the situation again when the woman delivering his food said she had gotten stuck on the same elevator multiple times herself.

Note to self, think twice before hopping on an elevator in Minnesota.
