NFL reveals halftime performer for Super Bowl

This week marks the start of the regular season for the National Football League. However, the league already has its sights set for the beginning of February.

On Saturday, it was revealed that Grammy winner Bruno Mars will perform at Super Bowl XLVIII, which is slated for Feb. 2 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

The game has generated considerable buzz because it will be played in an open-air stadium in a cold weather climate. Some experts have already predicted snow and extreme cold for the annual championship affair.

Mars, 27, has produced a total of five number one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and has garnered a variety of awards and accolades, including American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, and Grammys.

Beyonce performed at the most recent halftime show, which was held at the Superdome in New Orleans, and saw the Ravens sneak past the 49ers, 34-31.
