Did Dodgers players urinate in Chase Field pool during celebration?

As if the Los Angeles Dodgers hadn't already received enough flack over the decision made by some of their players to jump in the Chase Field pool after clinching the division, veteran sports reporter Anthony Jackson reports that at least one Dodgers player claims to have left his mark in the water via urination.

". . . it has come to my attention that one of the Dodgers players who jumped in the pool — and I will do him the favor of leaving his name out of this for now — openly and loudly bragged after leaving the pool about having urinated in it … There also are indications that MULTIPLE Dodgers players urinated into the pool, but I can’t tell you that with any certainty. It’s just what I’ve heard."

Now, Jackson does include a disclaimer in there, but empirical evidence seems to suggest that it's not implausible to think a couple of Dodgers may have relieved themselves in the pool. The Diamondbacks explicitly told the Dodgers not to celebrate on their field if they happened to clinch. Naturally, the boys from Hollywood did just that when afforded the opportunity, and essentially threw more fuel on an already heated rivalry between the National League West foes.

In his lengthy column, Jackson goes on to write harsh words about any Dodger who may have engaged in the shenanigan:

Any Dodgers player or players who urinated in the Chase Field pool on Thursday also defaced the Dodgers name. They may have thought they were pissing all over the Diamondbacks, but really, they were pissing all over the Dodgers, and everything the Dodgers are supposed to be about...And that’s the saddest part of this whole episode. Because in their zeal to disrespect the Diamondbacks, the only people these players really disrespected was themselves.

I tend to agree with Jackson. The celebration in and of itself was already pushing the envelope, but pissing in someone else's pool is disrespectful no matter how you slice it up.

  1. I think the Dodger Management should send the Diamondback Pool Maintenance Dept a check for maintenance on the pool for 6 months....Been a Dodger fan since they were the Brooklyn Bums (and that puts me in my 80's..never seen such a classless act. from any team for that matter..) Kinda puts a mark against the great win...A personally apoligy from said bragging offender would be good to send with the payment..
