Video: Minor league pitcher nearly decapitated by line drive
Minor league pitcher Daniel Norris lived through a scary encounter Thursday night after a line drive up the middle nearly took off his head.
The play occurred when the Lansing Lugnuts southpaw delivered a pitch to David Gonzalez of the West Michigan White caps. As you can see, Gonzalez rips the pitch right back up the middle, and in the direction of Norris' head. Fortunately, Norris was able to snap his glove in front of his face while falling to the ground in time to avoid a disastrous situation.
It all happens so fast, obviously. Gonzalez reacts with a frightened gesture as he walks back to the dugout and Norris takes a huge sigh of relief as he lays on the ground with the baseball.
