Washington Nationals slugger Jayson Werth never had a chance on this pitch from Chicago Cubs reliever Carlos Villanueva Wednesday night.
Villanueva entered the game in the top of the fifth in relief and proceeded to uncork a slow breaking ball to Werth: 57 MPH to be exact.
As you can see, Werth never expected anything quite like that, and freezes up as the pitch eventually drops in for a strike.
Werth maintains the pose for a couple of seconds after the pitch is delivered, too, almost as if he was still trying to comprehend what he had just seen.
Werth eventually flied out to right field in the at-bat.
