Philadelphia Flyers asking fans to help set ridiculous world record

It's that time of year, again.

It's time for NHL teams to start prepping for training camp by laying down their ice and painting the lines and various sponsorship logos for the upcoming season.

With this being said, the Philadelphia Flyers are calling on the assistance of fans to help set one of the most ridiculous world records imaginable.

On Monday, the Flyers are inviting fans to show up at the Wells Fargo Center to set a Guinness record for the "most people to simultaneously watch paint dry."

No, seriously. This is a real goal.

From their Facebook page:

Help us set a new Guinness Book of World Records for the most people to simultaneously watch paint dry when we paint the lines and logos into the ice at Wells Fargo Center this Monday at 11 a.m.!

Be a part of the preparations for the 2013-14 season and bring your cameras! Fans are welcome to enter from the Fan Zone store on the 11th street side of the Wells Fargo Center

There is a reason why folks often use the phrase "watching paint dry" as a means to express how boring something was. So, unless you are up for being part of dubious history, I would suggest not spending precious hours of your day on Monday to watch such a spectacle.
