Sheriff will not let Aaron Hernandez get married

Whether it be for love, or for courtroom strategy, former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez may very well try and marry his fiance while in prison.

However, it will not happen on the watch of Bristol County Sheriff Thomas M. Hodgson. Hogsdon told USA TODAY Sports on Tuesday that he will do everything in his power to keep the infamous football player from tying the night with his high school sweetheart.

"I don't subscribe to that. I feel that those rights are things that you access on the outside, if you're a good citizen," he said. "We'll do everything we can to not have that happen."

Hernandez has garnered widespread media attention for his alleged involvement in the murder of Odin Lloyd. The 23-year-old currently resides in the Bristol County jail on a first-degree murder charge.

One of the key people prosecutors may use to testify against Hernandez is his fiance and the mother of his seven-month-old daughter, Shayanna Jenkins. However, if the couple were married, Jenkins could be shielded from testifying against Hernandez at trial. So, the timing to pop the question may never be better for Hernandez than it is right now.

Hernandez has been held at the Bristol County jail since June 26, the day he was led from his luxurious North Attleborough, Mass., home in handcuffs. On June 27, a Bristol County Superior Court judge upheld the decision from a district court judge that he be held without bail.
