Seahawks fans trying to beat record for loudest crowd

Seattle Seahawks fans will try and set a new Guinness World Record when they welcome the San Francisco 49ers to town for their home opener.

A group of Seahawks fans known as Volume 12 have requested to have the noise level at CenturyLink Field monitored by Guinness for the Sept. 15 game.

The mark Seahawks fans will be aiming to eclipse is a decibel level of 131.76 set by a Turkish soccer team in 2011.

The team has claimed the crowd can reach a decibel level of 112, which makes the stadium the loudest in the NFL, but it is still a ways off from the record, obviously.

Seattle is hoping the excitement of the home opener against a rival will be enough to push the crowd noise over the top.

  1. Thought they already had the record. Like 137 db or something. Of course, that wasn't by guiness.

  2. Thats Husky Stadium, 133.6 vs Nebraska in 1992

  3. Jets fans can beat that...just threaten to shut down the beer concessions early.
