Jay-Z disses Scott Boras in new song

Debby Wong, USA TODAY Sports

Scott Boras is one of the most prolific sports agents in the business.

However, a newcomer to the industry, veteran hip-hop artist Jay-Z, is already calling his shots.

Jay-Z, who recently began work as a sports agent with his new venture called Roc Nation Sports, and is certified to represent Major League Baseball and National Basketball Association players, took a dig at Boras in one of his songs for his upcoming album.

The song is called "Crown" and is off Jay-Z's "Magna Carta Holy Grail" album.

“Scott Boras, you over baby. Robinson Cano, you coming with me," Jay-Z raps in the song.

The lyrics are in reference to Cano deciding to abruptly leave the Boras Corporation in favor of Jay-Z's new sports agency.

Boras doesn't seem to be rattled by his competitor's comments, though.

"I'm a fan of jazz," Boras told's Wallace Matthews, "and my favorite musician is Bernie Williams. What other musician could play center field for the Yankees and win four world championships?"

"What I've learned through my time in the business is that you can't worry about external factors," Boras said. "You just have to focus on being the best you can be.
