Fight ensues after customers mistake Aaron Hernandez's brother for Aaron Hernandez

D.J. Hernandez

Let's face it, folks.

Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez is not the most popular man in America right now. After all, the man has been charged with first-degree murder, and stands to receive life in prison without parole, if convicted.

So, you can only imagine the kind of wrath ordinary citizens would give Hernandez if they spotted him out in public. Well, this presented a problem for Hernandez's older brother, D.J., last Saturday, as a fight broke out in a Connecticut diner when customers mistook the older Hernandez for his troubled younger brother.

D.J., who is an assistant coach with the Iowa Hawkeyes, was allegedly not involved in the altercation itself, but three individuals were arrested following the melee.

It is unclear if any of the three men who were arrested were with Hernandez.

“It was just customers who thought it was Aaron Hernandez. That’s how the fight actually started,” a diner employee told the Press-Citizen. “They thought it was Aaron Hernandez himself.

“And then someone said, ‘No it’s his brother,’ and then a fight broke out. But whoever the person was, if it was D.J. Hernandez … (he was) not involved in the actual fight.”

Iowa has elected not to comment on the matter.
