Brazilian referee beheaded after stabbing player

A recent amateur soccer match in Brazil turned extremely gruesome and deadly after a referee sent off one of the players.

Long story short, the referee was eventually stoned by angry fans, beheaded, and then placed on a spike. This came moments after the referee allegedly stabbed the ejected player with a knife he had been carrying during the match.

Here is part of the report from the Daily Mail:

According to Correio24horas, Octavio da Silva Catanhede Jordan, 20, sent off Josenir dos Santos Abreu, who refused to leave the field and began insulting him. The referee is said to have been carrying a knife and he stabbed the player several times.

Fans – believed to be friends or relatives of the player – ran onto the field and stoned the referee to death.

They are then said to have cut him into quarters and put his head on a spike.

So, just yet another example of how people outside of the United States take soccer way too seriously.

Additionally, this isn't exactly the kind of story people want to hear as Brazil gets set to play host to the World Cup one year from now.

Wow. Just wow.
