It's hard enough to avoid being hit by errant baseballs as a spectator in the stands. But avoiding a broken bat is an entirely different story.
The group of Texas Rangers fans sitting in the first few rows behind the third base dugout Tuesday night can certainly attest to dodging a shattered bat.
They lived through a scary moment in the bottom of the first when Ian Kinsler's piece of lumber went flying into the crowd after smacking a foul ball.
Fortunately, nobody was injured, and a young fan wound up with an awesome souvenir. Well, half of a souvenir at least.
