Photo: Royals minor league affiliate invites fans to bring cats to the park

The Wilmington Blue Rocks played host to a plethora of furry felines Tuesday. And no I'm not referring to the team they were playing (Carolina Mudcats), either.

What I'm referring to is the fact that the Rocks held its first ever "Purr in the Park Night" at Frawley Stadium. And it sure seems as though it was a smashing success.

Fans were encouraged to bring their cats to the game just as long as they were confined in a pet carrier. So, this is exactly what several fans decided to do.

The festivities included musical and video tributes to some of the most famous cats in the history of society. Yes, Garfield was definitely one of those cats who the team paid homage to. The night was also used as a time to educated fans on cat adoption plus the importance of spraying and neutering their pets.

Teams have been hosting "Bark in the Park" night for years. So, it's nice to finally see the other popular house animal gets its moment of baseball glory.
