Texas Rangers designated hitter Lance Berkman hasn't played in a game since Wednesday because of a sore knee, but is expected to be back in the lineup by Tuesday.
This in and of itself isn't exactly notable news. However, the precarious manner in which he injured the knee sure is.
The 37-year-old told reporters Sunday that he hurt his right knee when he fell down the stairs of the Rangers charter flight Thursday. Berkman has been dealing with soreness in his knee since the fall happened after the Rangers' arrival back from New York to Texas.
"It doesn't tolerate trauma that well," Berkman said. "It hurts."
Berkman is hitting .263/.362/.392 with six homers and 34 RBI this season.
