Texas Rangers infielder Jeff Baker wasn't in the lineup Friday night because of a sprained right thumb. This in and of itself isn't newsworthy.
However, the manner in which Baker injured himself certainly is.
Baker was unable to grip a bat Friday after receiving an "over-the-top high-five" from one of his teammates during pregame handshakes Thursday. This is according to Jeff Wilson of the Fort-Worth Star Telegram.
Yes, a destructive high-five is to blame for Baker's inability to play.
