The 2004 season for the Boston Red Sox marked a memorable one for the franchise when the team captured its first World Series title since 1918. And actor Jennifer Garner credits their improbable run for her successful and happy marriage with fellow actor and Boston native Ben Affleck.

“If they hadn’t won that year, I don’t think I’d be married with three kids,” she said, laughing. “Because I think I would have been considered a jinx. Boston fans are pretty serious about superstition.

“There’s something about Boston fans, they really think they can control it by what shirt they wear and where they sit — the whole thing.”

The 2004 World Series marked the first public appearance for Garner and Affleck. So, the two weren't exactly destined to be wed at the time. However, the outcome of the series must have had some form of magical touch on their relationship as they were married the following summer.

Garner, who was born in Texas and grew up in the hills of West Virginia, has since become as avid of a Red Sox fan as her husband is.

Oh, the things we do for love.
