Video: Dioner Navarro clubs three home runs in one game

Chicago Cubs catcher Dioner Navarro woke up Wednesday with three home runs to his credit for the 2013 season. By nightfall, the 29-year-old catcher had doubled his season output.

Navarro had the game of his professional career by going a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with three homers, four runs scored, and six runs batted in against the rival White Sox.

On paper, the feat seems to be an incredibly improbable occurrence, as Navarro entered the game with 44 career home runs in 2,298 plate appearances. In other words, Navarro was averaging one home run per for every 52 trips to the plate he made. This trend obviously didn't hold true on Wednesday at Wrigley Field. And that is why you have to love the game of baseball.
