Jamaican track star Usain Bolt is arguably the fastest man in the world. The Olympian is also an avid basketball fan.
Bolt recently competed in the 2013 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game and electrified the crowd with his unparalleled speed, signature lighting-bolt pose, and a wicked two-handed slam dunk. SLAM had the chance to catch up with Bolt about that experience and also how he became a die-hard Boston Celtics fan.
Apparently, his love for the Celtics grew from his love for Kevin Garnett.
I’m a Boston Celtics fan. I’ve been a Celtics fan since Kevin Garnett got there. I was a Timberwolves fan and then became a Boston fan when KG came. I’m a KG fan. Everywhere KG goes, I support.
SLAM then asked why Bolt liked KG so much.
KG for me, he’s a fighter, he’s a leader, he’s a champion. I seen him go through a lot. He’s very tough mentally, and he goes out there and plays hard and always gives 150 percent. So for me, that’s the biggest thing. Even when he was injured, he was always there with his team, always supporting them, always pushing them to be the best, so for me, that’s something big. That’s a leadership quality that I like and appreciate.
So, there you go. Bolt may be in the minority regarding his favoritism toward Garnett. Not too many people outside of Boston seem to be fond of the Hall of Fame-bound big man. However, he's definitely got at least man in his corner in Bolt.
