A man faces up to 30 years in prison after trying to steal the identity of Seattle Seahawks and Portland Trail Blazers owner Paul Allen.
Brandon Price, a former soldier, plead guilty to fraud this week for attempting to swipe $15,000 from Allen's bank account. Price did so by changing the address on Allen's account and then asking the bank for a replacement debit card by claiming the old one was lost.
Price did in fact receive a new card with the intent of using some of the funds to help pay off his personal loans by making a $15,000 wire transfer. And this is about as far as the culprit got in the plot.
According to a recently published list by Forbes, Allen checks in as the richest owner in the National Football League, with a net worth of a whopping $13.5 billion. By comparison, the second-richest owner in the NFL is Stephen Ross, whose net worth of $3.4 billion is nearly $10 billion less than Allen's.
