Tigers minor league team will wear Chewbacca jerseys for Star Wars promotion

"GRWWAAAAWWWRRR!" -Chewbacca
The Toledo Mud Hens, the Triple-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, will wear special jerseys to commemorate their special Star Wars weekend. The above jersey will be donned on May 4th and 5th when they take on the Charlotte (Jedi?) Knights.

I must admit those things are kind of hideous, but the Star Wars nerd inside me thinks they are awesome. They should have gone full-on hair and mask for these games. That might be hard to play in though.

They aren't just doing this for fun either. It's for a good cause. According to the official story on MiLB.com:
The jerseys will be available for purchase during the games via a silent auction. Proceeds from Saturday's jersey auction will benefit Read for Literacy. Sunday's proceeds will go to the Spina Bifida Association of Northwest Ohio.
That's pretty awesome of them. May the force be with you.

*Edit (6:51pm): As the anonymous commenter pointed out, MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU. Good call, anonymous person.
