Wichita State's magical run in the NCAA Tournament came to an end Saturday night as the Louisville Cardinals put an end to the Shockers' Cinderella story.
But the Cardinals didn't manage to win without suffering quite a scare. Rick Pitino's bunch had to overcome a 12-point deficit with about 13 minutes to go to propel themselves to their first national title game appearance since 1986.
Wichita State head coach Gregg Marshall saluted Shockers fans for their incredible support throughout their Final Four run by taking out a full-page advertisement in the Wichita Eagle.
The message read, "THANK YOU, SHOCKER FAITHFUL. GREGG MARSHALL."
The Shockers took down the likes of Pittsburgh, Gonzaga, La Salle, and Ohio State en route to their first trip to the Final Four since 1965. They finished with an overall record of 30-9.
