On Thursday, the University of Connecticut unveiled a sleeker, bolder, and sharper version of their iconic Husky Dog logo.

The school's athletic department has been working with Nike for the past 14 months in an effort to evaluate all parts of its branding, which includes word marks, logos, and uniforms. The new logo will be featured on uniforms of every one of UConn's 24 sports teams beginning in the fall. The logo will be accompanied by the word "UCONN" in all caps and will be outlined in red.

“We are proud to share with everyone the new visual identity of UConn Athletics, which includes a new Husky Dog logo,” said Director of Athletics Warde Manuel. “Our student-athletes and coaches strongly believe that the new Husky dog logo boldly reflects values such as Pride, Loyalty, Strength, Determination and Athleticism. They are all very excited to wear it into competition and to see it displayed prominently in our facilities.”

“This logo is everything that a Husky is supposed to be—powerful, aggressive, determined. It is looking right through you and saying ‘Do not mess with me’,” said women’s basketball head coach Geno Auriemma. “This is a streamlined, fighting dog and I cannot wait for it to be on our uniforms and court."

A complete guide highlighting all of UConn's visual changes is set to be released in the coming weeks.
