Felix Hernandez gives John Jaso Rolex for catching perfect game

2013-04-01 John Jaso Rolex

Last August, Seattle Mariners ace Felix Hernandez tossed the first perfect game in franchise history. His catcher in that game was John Jaso.

On Monday, Hernandez and Jaso were reunited again, except this time they were wearing different uniforms.

Jaso, who is now a member of the Oakland A's after being traded in the offseason, squared off against his former teammate as the A's hosted the Mariners tonight.

Before the game, Hernandez had a clubhouse employee deliver Jaso a shiny Rolex as a token of appreciation for catching Hernandez's historic game last year. Jaso called the watch a "bit of an upgrade" and said he plans to replace his Timex in favor of it.

The words "perfect game" are engraved on the back of the watch, as well as the date "8/15/12."

Hernandez recently signed a seven-year, $175 million contract extension in February. So, it's safe to assume he has a little cash to spare in order to hand out gifts such as this one.

Nonetheless, it's still a classy gesture by arguably the best pitcher in the game.
