New Orleans Hornets rookie Anthony Davis still has plenty of room to grow, literally.
I'm not just referring to his overall basketball game, I'm referring to his physical body, as well.
The 20-year-old boasts a 6-foot-10 frame, but is only listed at 220 pounds, and that number is probably being a little generous.
Though Davis managed to dominate at the college level with his thin frame, leading Kentucky to a national championship en route to a Player of the Year award, the Hornets are urging their top draft pick to add on a few more pounds, which Davis is obliging to by apparently gorging on lots and lots of pizza.
“He eats pizza, man. It’s like if anyone says, ‘P … I’ and then, ‘Pizza,’ he perks up,” Hornets coach Monty Williams said. “This dude has this fascination with pizza. It’s unreal.”
Honestly, who doesn't love pizza?
And being that Davis is from Chicago, whose residents definitely know pizza, it isn't too surprising to learn that a combination of pizza, cheese, sauce, and meat is Davis' primary weapon for bulking up.
The push for Davis to gain weight is in an effort to ultimately help him add strength.
But as strength and conditioning coach Carlos Daniel warns, Davis must be careful he doesn't let those pizza pies turn into fat.
"He has done a better job of eating better throughout the season," Daniel said, "and not just having the thought of, 'Oh, I will just get a pizza.' "
Davis is averaging 13.2 points and 8.1 rebounds per game this season.
