Video: Jered Weaver narrowly avoids getting pegged by baseball

Los Angeles Angels pitcher Jered Weaver took the mound against Team Italy on Wednesday.

He fared pretty well in his team's 12-6 victory. The right-hander limited the Italians to three hits and a run, while fanning five over his three innings of work.

But his day was almost ruined by a low throw from teammate Hank Conger between innings. Weaver had just concluded his warm-up pitches for the inning when his teammate delivered a throw down to second that was a little to close for the 6-foot-7 pitcher's liking, which sent Weaver to the seat of his pants.

The sight was reminiscent of the way the Peanuts gang used to knock the socks off Charlie Brown. Except, Weaver managed to escape with nothing more than a little dirt on his pants.
