Team Japan stayed undefeated in the World Baseball Classic by notching a 10-6 victory over the Netherlands Tuesday.
Japan, who previously won the WBC tournament in 2006 and 2009, put eight runs on the scoreboard in the second inning alone to propel itself to the win.
Half of those runs were batted in by designated hitter Shinnosuke Abe after the Japanese slugger belted two homers in the same frame.
He was lifted in favor of a pinch-hitter during the next time through the lineup or else he would have had a shot at going for more.
I'm assuming the white boot Abe was wearing as he rounded the bases had something to do with the decision.
The 33-year-old plays professionally for the Yomiuri Giants where he batted .340 with 27 homers last season.
